Lifetime’s Remake of Flowers in the Attic: It’s Almost here!

Re-released with a movie-tie cover

Less than one week to go until Lifetime’s remake of Flowers in the Attic premieres. I haven’t been this excited about a movie in a long time.

The first time I saw the trailer for the remake, I got chills and goosebumps. How amazing is this?

I read Flowers in the Attic as a freshman in high school. It became my favorite book instantly, and influenced my life in many ways.

I became obsessed, joining an online fan club on Prodigy back in the day when the “internet” was divided into services and you couldn’t communicate with people on other services. When I went on to college and learned how to create websites, I created one of the first ones dedicated to V.C. Andrews.

Flowers in the Attic is one of things that inspired me to write. I wrote fan fiction before I knew there was a term for it.

Now, it’s been years since I’ve read the book. I once owned all of V.C. Andrews’ works in first edition paperbacks, the ones with the holes in the cover and the photo inside. I’ve since donated or sold them off.  But now I’m re-buying the Flowers in the Attic series in e-book format.

I also bought the unabridged audiobook, which I’ve been listening to in preparation of the movie. It’s amazing how the words just come back to me, and I know what the narrator is going to say before she says it.

Christopher Dollanganger was my first ever “book boyfriend”…and listening to the audiobook, I think I’m falling in love with him all over again.  🙂

E! Online reports that Lifetime is already planning to film the sequel, Petals on the Wind. I hope that’s true!

I’ll be watching! I’d love to see a sequel, too.

I am ridiculously excited! It looks like they’ve updated it a bit (I think I saw Christopher using a computer in the trailer??) but otherwise looks very closer to the book.
